"I thought you said my pants were tight enough," Steve said.

Tony just grinned and let his eyes wander down Steve's form before taking a sip of coffee.

Steve blushed all the way down. "Incorrigible," he murmured, heading into the shower.

"Love you," Tony sang after him, leaning a little keep enjoying the view.

"Love you too," Steve called back.

He'd return in a few minutes after his usual lobster-boiling hot shower.

Tony assumed it was a combination of the ice and making up for not having that much hot water back in the day.

"How much did you tire yourself out?"

"Not as much as I'd hoped," Steve admitted, coming out in just a towel, hair tousled and still drippy.

Tony hummed, trying to come up with a vacation with enough activities to keep Steve pleasantly busy. That wasn't, like, camping.

Because they'd die.

"C'mere. You deserve a donut."

Steve smiled softly and reached for a pair of Stark-branded sweatpants to slide into, then used the towel to dry his hair a little more.

It was now sticking up in all kinds of crazy directions.

"I do like donuts," he said, settling in next to Tony on the bed.

Tony grinned like an idiot at that hair, forcing himself not to fix it.

"Donuts and having thumbs that work correctly," Tony said, tearing a bite-sized piece off the donut he had to feed to him.

Steve's eyes went a little a dark and needy as he took the bite, then settled his head against Tony's comfortable, non-plastic shoulder. "The more I think about the bureau being full of hands--" he shivered. "Not okay."

Tony tilted his head to rest on Steve's to offer more physical reassurance as he feed him another bite.

"A little serial killer-y, huh?"

"Just a little," Steve said, closing his eyes. "And I'd be very, very fine with never watching your potential execution announced live on television."

His arm snaked around Tony's side to pull him in closer. Steve would need some reassurance on the Tony-being-here front for a while.

"I'm here," Tony replied, kissing his temple. "We got it figured out."

"It was a close shave," Steve murmured.

Tony hugged him back and sighed. "It's okay, sweetheart."

Steve was going to fall apart juuuust a little.

"It really wasn't."

"Talk to me," Tony replied softly, trying to help him release those emotions.

"I was a brainwashed pro-fascism moron for half of a week," Steve said, "and then you almost died because the guy running the island used the dean like some kind of human battery and he gave off enough energy to turn us all into toys. I'm...processing."

Freaking out. He was freaking out now that it was safe enough to do so.

It was his first time experiencing this! It was not Tony's first rodeo.

"Talk through it. Bit by bit," Tony replied, rubbing soothing circles on the back of Steve's neck.

"Do I have to?" Steve asked plaintively. "Can I just eat donuts and hide?"

"It's called multi-tasking," he teased gently.

Steve made a face at him. "You seem not nearly as messed up about all of this."

"I'm multi-tasking that," Tony replied, grabbing his coffee for a distracting sip. "I haven't touched the armor since I was finally able to be out of it."

Which was A Thing. You know. For him.

"Sweetheart," Steve murmured, nuzzling his neck.

It made him feel better, in a weird way, to know that Tony didn't feel better either.
