After spending a week as a toy, Tony was,just going to employ a little self care.

Which amounted to letting the dog sleep in his lap as he enjoyed coffee and a donut. As far from the armor as he could be after spending so much time in it.

Oh, and watching the backlog of adorable videos Jan had sent him. Again, because self care.

"Not of my own free will," Steve said vehemently.

Tony kissed him for that. "I think you'd punch yourself."

"One in each eye," Steve said.

"Try not to bruise yourself too much," Tony replied.

"If I ever spend time thinking I'm a goddamn Nazi, I'll bruise myself way worse than two black eyes."

"I'll make backup plans for that," Tony promised.

"How many thousands of backup plans do you have?" Steve asked curiously.

"Low... Thousands," Tony hedged. Like that was a sane amount.

Steve leaned in and kissed him softly. It was completely nuts, but very Tony.

"It's better than building a ton of armor." Instead he just designed them!

"Is that mostly because you're very tired of armor this second?" Steve murmured.

"Maybe a little," Tony admitted quietly.

Steve kissed him again, sucking gently on his lower lip. "Thank you for being honest with me," he replied softly.

"Why are feelings so difficult," Tony whined, running his hands up and down Steve's back.

"I don't approve," Steve said.

"One of us has to be good at it," Tony said with a quiet laugh.

"I vote you this time," Steve said. "I'll be the feelings guy next crisis."

"Fine, fine," he sighed, moving his hands up to direct Steve's face up for another kiss. "I know you, sweetheart. None of those things were you."

Steve relaxed his shoulders from where they'd crouched up around his ears as he heard that. "Thank you," he murmured.

"And I know it's hard to trust yourself after something like that," Tony continued softly, trying to make sure he looked Steve in the eye for this. "But I have faith in you."

It was no manly shoulder touch on a rooftop, but it was no less meaningful.

Steve bit his lower lip hard, not able to meet Tony's eyes for very long. "You do still?"

"Without a doubt," Tony said, following him with a soft kiss.

The look of relief on Steve's face more than gave away just how much Tony's opinion mattered to him.

"Not even a little doubt?"

Because Steve himself had more than a little doubt right now.

"The only doubts I have about your character involve your love of protein powder," he teased gently.
