Well, it was that time of year again. No, not the type where something wicked this way comes.

The holiday type!

Which would be why Tony was sending out an email invite to a party this weekend.

Saturday, the 16th
Above Stark Industries
Come celebrate the holidays and the end of the school year!
Bring cookies and good cheer.

There, that was set and would totally not get interrupted by the island again. Tony took a sip of his coffee and rubbed his forehead as a strange headache started just behind his eyes.

And today had been so promising.

"Hey," Steve said, wandering into the room with his own cup of coffee. "Did you make sure to specify good cookies?"

"No, you can just give them disappointed looks until they realize the error of their ways," Tony replied with the heel of his hand pressed against the bridge of his nose.

"You okay?" Steve asked, coming closer and looking concerned.

"Headache," he said with a sigh. "Its not the lack of coffee at least."

He had that covered.

"Migraine?" Steve wondered, reaching out to touch Tony's forehead.

Tony jerked away for a moment without even meaning to, opening his eyes to look confused at his own reaction. "Maybe something with Extremis?"

Steve frowned harder. "Has it happened before?" he asked, pulling his hand back.

"Not like this," he replied. But then he hadn't been mind controlled since getting it, so it might be a warning sign. "Maybe I just need more sleep."

Steve immediately looked guilty. "Sorry," he said. "I should be more considerate."

"Yes, you should," Tony replied as that alien thought flooded his brain. And just as fast as it was there, it was gone. Like a light switch being thrown. "I'm sorry, I'm... I'm not thinking right."

A flash of genuine hurt raced across Steve face before he quickly shoved it aside. "We don't have to have the party if you're not feeling up to it," he said.

"No, I want to. You need your cookie fix," he said, smiling a little to cover up the worry about that little outburst.

Steve smiled back a little warily. "You sure?"

Karolina was not a winter person, and it was beginning to weigh on her kind of a lot. And, well, there'd been another Tony on the island once, who'd made an offer, so...

She was dropping by the shop this morning. "Hi, Mr. Stark."

Tony blinked owlishly at her for a moment, searching for a name with a brain running at about half capacity because of things going on that he didn't know about yet.

"Hi. Karolina, right?

"Yeah." That probably didn't need a nod, too, but he got one anyway, along with a quick smile. "I have a, um... a project that I wanted to ask you about. Is this a good time?"

"Sure," he replied with an echoing smile. Also, it might keep him from ending up building a doomsday device because things.

Guess that meant she had to get into it, huh?

"Sooo... First off, I'm an alien." That seemed like really pertinent information, so good thing she'd gotten pretty comfortable with saying it out loud. "And, kind of a solar-powered one? Like, my powers get weaker if I don't get enough sunlight. So, I was wondering if you could help with that."

Now that she was saying it, it felt a little dumb. It wasn't as if he could make a sun for her, really.

"So, a super powered sun lamp," he replied. Which he was going to start to turn into something evil before he could get it to her. Oops?

He'd fix that after this all was over.

It was okay, Karolina was probably going to have other priorities at that point too.

"Pretty much," she confirmed. "I mean, if that's even a thing."

At least the 'sorry I was randomly evil because of magic/mind control/aliens/a cosmic cube for a little there' made sense for both of them? Her world probably sold Hallmark cards for it.

"It can be a thing," Tony replied, tilting his head to study her for a moment. "Does it hurt you to be away from the sun or...?"

"No, but I get really tired if it's dark for a long time," she said. She'd been to the Darkforce Dimension once. It hadn't been fun. "It's kind of like I have batteries that need charging? If I go long enough without the sun, I can't use my powers at all."

Normal him would have shown quite a bit more concern about that and less.. well, clinical curiosity.

Maybe he could also build something to drain her powers. You now. Just in case he needed to do something evil. What? Tony no. "I think I could come up with something. It might take me a little time. I don't exactly have the best lab here."

Because he blew up his other one.

And maybe if Karolina had known him better, she would've questioned this. But maybe this was just how he was when he worked?

She hadn't been back on Fandom for very long yet, either.

"Take your time," she said, with a wave of her hand. "I'm grateful you're even trying."

He'd still have to apologize to her for it. And die a little on the inside.

"Maybe you can come back and check on the progress this weekend?"

Now he was totally planning to use her as a battery to kill the planet. Because villain Tony was The Wooorst.
